How does a family pass work? + -
  • A $15 family pass allows admission for 2 adults and any children or grandchildren under the age of 18.
    • You may purchase a single “Plus One” pass for one additional adult for $5. If there are two additional adults, another family pass must be purchased.
  • Upon purchase of the family pass, each member of your party will receive a wristband which allows admission to and transportation between each participating attraction. The wristbands are valid for both days of the event as long as they stay on your wrist.
  • Family passes are available for purchase at any location the day of the event. Presale passes can be purchased starting the week of June 17 at The Durham Museum, Lauritzen Gardens and the Union Pacific Railroad Museum during their regular hours of operation.
    Cash, check and credit cards are taken at each participating venue (the credit cards accepted vary from venue to venue).
  • Railroad Days is a great value for adults as well. The regular price of admission for a single adult to visit all five venues is $35. A family pass to Railroad Days $15. One adult saves $20 by purchasing a family pass. Two adults save $55 by purchasing a family pass.

Lauritzen Gardens and the Durham Museum have the largest parking lots, but you are welcome to park and start at any venue. Please note: no parking is available onsite at Union Pacific’s Home Plate (see details below).

Home Plate: Parking is not available at Union Pacific’s Home Plate. However, parking is available at nearby CHI Health Center Convention Center in Lot D at a cost of $8 (cash or credit) per vehicle. For ADA parking use Lot D at the Convention Center or park at another venue and take the ADA bus to Home Plate. Do the venues serve food or refreshments?

Food/snack and beverages are available for purchase at all locations with the exception of Union Pacific’s Home Plate. Food and beverages are not included in your ticket price. 

In addition, a hospitality stop has been added on the Council Bluffs trolley loop.  The Historic 100 Block in Council Bluffs will offer visitors additional access to area restaurants and amenities during both days of the event. This stop includes restrooms, food and drink. In honor of Abraham Lincoln a menu of food and drink items for $5 will be offered at various locations on the block.

  • School buses and/or trolleys run set, one-way loops between locations. View Map »
    • School buses run on the RIVER LOOP (Lauritzen Gardens to The Durham Museum to Home Plate to Union Pacific Railroad Museum to Lauritzen Gardens to The Durham Museum…). One round of the entire River Loop takes approximately 50-75 minutes, depending on traffic. There are several wheelchair accessible buses that run this route.
    • Trolleys run on the COUNCIL BLUFFS LOOP (Union Pacific Railroad Museum to RailsWest Railroad Museum to the Historic General Dodge House to 100 Block to Union Pacific Railroad Museum to RailsWest…). One round of the Council Bluffs Loop takes approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.
    • The transfer station is Union Pacific Railroad Museum. You can get off of the River Loop (bus) there and transfer to the Council Bluffs Loop (trolley), or vice versa.
  • Please note, you do not ride on a train during this event.
  • Strollers are allowed on the provided transportation, but they must be collapsed. We recommend a smaller, lightweight stroller.
  • Guests are always welcome to take their own vehicle between attractions
How long does the transportation run? + -

If you are using the provided transportation, make sure to give yourself enough time to get back to your car by 5:15 p.m.

Are all locations ADA accessible? + -
  • Lauritzen Gardens, The Durham Museum and the Union Pacific Railroad Museum are fully accessible to guests with disabilities.
  • The first floor of the Historic General Dodge House is accessible for guests in scooters and/or wheelchairs, but guests must take their own vehicle to access the entrance (the trolley is unable to access it).
  • Due to this historic nature of the depot and rail yard, RailsWest Railroad Museum is not an accessible venue.
  • Please note that due to its historic nature, Union Pacific’s Heritage Passenger Fleet equipment — including the Experience the Union Pacific Rail Car — is not ADA accessible.
Railroad Days Severe Weather Policy + -

In the event of severe weather, each participating venue will determine the safest course of action for staff and guests. For outdoor activities, this may involve moving visitors to a safe location. Guest safety is always our primary concern.

Home Plate: Rideshare / Taxi Access + -

The designated drop-off and pick-up point for Home Plate is located towards the north end of the cutout along 10th Street in front of CHI Health Center Omaha.
